KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape have been devastated by severe weather, with more than 80 homes destroyed and more than 500 families affected. In KZN, heavy snow, strong winds, and hailstorms damaged infrastructure and caused widespread power outages.Â
In the Eastern Cape, deadly floods have claimed at least seven lives, with 13 people, including 10 children, still missing after a minibus was swept away in Mthatha. Rescue operations continue, as collapsed bridges, impassable roads, and power outages hamper efforts.Â
Flights to Mthatha have been cancelled, and the weather service has issued a Level 9 Orange Alert, warning of further flooding. Residents are urged to remain on high alert and seek shelter where necessary.
