BMW driver flees after knocking down and killing six pedestrians in Eastern Cape | News24

Ten people died in just one night on Eastern Cape roads on Friday. Among the victims was an on-duty police officer.

In Mbizana, near Port Edward, six pedestrians died after being knocked down by a vehicle on the R61 at around 23:00, said Eastern Cape Department of Transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose.

“A BMW sedan was travelling from Mbizana, allegedly with one male occupant, heading towards Port Edward, while the six men were walking along the road. The driver knocked all six of them [down]. Five died on the scene, while the sixth man died on the way to the hospital,” said Binqose.
