Two sluice gates closed at Vaal Dam

BLOEMHOF – At least eight sluice gates remain open at the Vaal Dam.

Last week, 10 sluice gates were opened as part of maintaining the water level at the dam, which surpassed 100 percent.

Hundreds of people downstream along the Vaal riverbanks were evacuated as a result, and many are still displaced.

Bloemhof residents will have to wait for water leaving the Vaal Dam catchment area to flow through to the Bloemhof Dam and make its way downriver.
