Sinani on top of the Safa Ehlanzeni U20 Development League log | Mpumalanga News

Sinani United remains top of the Safa Ehlanzeni U20 Development League log. The team played against Fortune Academy at St Mark’s International School in Mbombela on Sunday, March 9. Sinani won 3-1. After week eight of the league, Sinani is still in the lead with 17 points. In second place is Mpumalanga School of Excellence with 16 points.

The league comprises two streams, namely Mbombela with 13 teams and Nkomazi with eight teams, with 21 teams in total.

The Mbombela Stream league commenced in November and includes Sinani United, Fortune Academy, Mpumalanga School of Excellence, Mataffin Hotspurs, Barberton Academy and the TS Matsulu Future Academy.
The Nkomazi Stream began on February 15 and includes KaMaqhekeza, 1341 Stars, Harmony, Umkhonto, Tusa, Dludluma, Sibange and Screamer IX.

The first match at St Mark’s on Sunday saw TS Galaxy Academy playing against Black Medal FC. TS Galaxy won this match 3-2.In the second game, the MP School of Excellence faced Idlabantu FC. The MP School of Excellence won 4-0.
Barberton Academy faced Mataffin Hotspurs, and Mataffin won 2-0. This game was played on Mbombela Stadium’s B field. Mthimba Football Academy and Game United played against each other at Salubindza Artificial, and Mthimba won 4-0. TS Matsulu Future Academy and Junior Spurs FC played at KaNyamazane Stadium, with TS Matsulu winning 4-1.

The league’s co-ordinator, George Kgoale, said this was started so the U17 players would have one to move on to.

“The players were getting lost after they were done at U17 level, so we wanted them to remain active and play the game. This is why we started the U20 level, so that they can remain in a league,” Kgoale said.
The Nkomazi teams played at Driekoppies Stadium.
