A man who has poured faeces on a health worker in the free state was found guilty of abuse. His conviction was established on March 20, 2025.

The Welcome Magistrate Court has found a dissatisfied patient who has poured faeces about freedom care in health care who is guilty of abuse and humiliating health workers.

The conviction of a 38-year-old man is scheduled for March 20, 2025 after the court found him guilty of the incident in July 2024 in Thabong Clinic on Thursday 27 February.

The patient visited the clinic in the early hours of July 25, 2024 and expressed dissatisfaction with the speed of the clinic.

Dissatisfied patient gave bucket with faeces on clinic worker

He voluntarily left the care institution, but he returned the next day with a bucket feces, which he gave to an unsuspecting health worker.

This humiliating incident created chaos in the clinic, disturbed services in the reception and forced the clinic to close early.

The seriousness of his behavior was further emphasized when the perpetrator led about the crime on social media after it had happened, said the Free State Department of Health in a statement.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) then opened a case against the patient, which showed that he was a parolee. The 38-year-old was quickly arrested for the case and the violation of his conditional circumstances.

The spokesperson for the Mondli Mvambi department confirmed that the attacked employee and other affected employees received counseling from the department and returned to their duties, “Determining resilience and dedication to their patients.”

Proud of the power of employees

Free State MEC for Health Monyatso Mahlatsi said he was proud of the strength and dedication of the employee to justice.

“We praise her because she is firm in the light of adversity and justice strive for her perpetrator,” Mahlatsi said.

The MEC also emphasized the importance of the upcoming conviction, and the hope that it would strengthen the dignity of health workers and serve if a warning would serve for those who commit violence against civil servants.

“We trust that the sentence will send a clear message that violence and abuse are not tolerated in our health facilities. We urge all patients to stay patient and follow the right complaints management procedures instead of resorting to violence, “he said.
