The Emergency Services department of the city of Tshwane says that the bad weather conditions are expected to continue until at least Wednesday.

This follows on the South African weather services level five warning for serious thunderstorms.

Tshwane Emergency Services added that the impact of serious disruptive rain can include Localized floodsSevere lightning attacks, mud flows, traffic disruptions because, among other things, large roads are flooded.

Spokesperson for the city of Tshwane Emergency Services, Lindsay Mnguni, urged the community to stay alert.

“We call on communities to observe the following safety measures: if possible, stay indoors and away from metal objects that can be affected by lightning. Avoid outdoor activities such as fishing or golfing in the rain, because the fishing bars and golf clubs can put on lightning. Do not look for shelter under isolated trees or high objects if there is a thunderstorm. Motorists and pedestrians must be extra careful where roads are smooth and/or visibility is influenced. “
