Limpopo agree ‘mutual separation’ with CEO, while CSA ‘temporarily dissolve’ Border and Northern Cape boards

Limpopo Impala Cricket Board chief executive officer Tommy Phiri‘s tenure has ended.

Limpopo compete in division two of South African domestic cricket.

“A mutual separation agreement has been reached with Tommy Phiri, the CEO of Limpopo Impala Cricket,” read a statement from the Limpopo Impala Cricket Board.

“The Limpopo Impala Cricket Board would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Mr Phiri for his tireless commitment, passion and leadership during his time as CEO.

“Mr Phiri has been a driving force behind the growth and development of Limpopo Impala Cricket, and his efforts have had a profound and lasting impact on the organisation and the wider cricketing community in the province.

“His vision, dedication, and unwavering support for the sport have inspired many, and under his guidance, Limpopo Impala Cricket has achieved remarkable progress. While we are saddened to see him leave, we are incredibly thankful for the strong foundation Mr Phiri has helped build for the future of Limpopo Impala Cricket.

“The board is excited about the future and is actively looking forward to appointing a new CEO to continue advancing the vision of the organisation.

“The Limpopo Impala Cricket board remains steadfast in its commitment to the ongoing development of cricket in the province, and will continue to build on the progress made to date, ensuring a bright future for cricket in Limpopo.”

Meanwhile, Cricket South Africa have exercised step-in rights at Border Cricket and the Northern Cape Cricket Union. Border and Northern Cape, like Limpopo, compete in division two of South African domestic cricket.

“This decision follows challenges in meeting obligations outlined in CSA regulations, including failure to timeously submit unqualified audited financial statements and concerns around the general lack of adherence to standard governance practices,” read a statement from CSA.

“As a result, the boards of Border and NCC will be temporarily dissolved, with CSA-appointed administrators stepping in to manage the affairs of the unions for the duration of this step-in period.

“Experienced former cricket administrators Greg Fredericks and Jesse Chellan were appointed as administrators. Fredericks is assigned to Border, while Chellan is assigned to NCC. Their appointments are effective immediately.”
