In Cape Town, a police officer from the Tulbagh Crime Prevention Unit, facing murder charges, has been released on bail of R1,000. The officer, Sergeant Jonathan Waterboer, appeared for his second hearing in the Tulbagh Magistrates Court following his arrest last week. Phaladi Shuping from the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) reported that Sergeant Waterboer was detained by IPID on June 13. The case is scheduled for further investigation, with the next court date set for September 29, 2024.
