Western Province triumphed dominantly to retain their A-Section title at the 2024 South African Senior & Super Senior Inter-Provincial Tournament held at Sishen Golf Club, North Cape. They began as favorites and lived up to the expectations, finishing the week undefeated. Their journey began with an 8-4 victory over Kwa-Zulu Natal and continued with another 8-4 win against North West. They then secured a 12-0 victory over Free State and beat Boland 9-3. The team capped off their success with an emphatic 11-1 win against Gauteng North and an 8.5-3.5 win over Central Gauteng.
Atlantic Beach’s Greg Woodbridge emerged as the top performer with 12 points, supported by Cameron Johnston and Tony Louw, both securing 11 points each, and Giles Buchanan with 10 points.
Meanwhile, Gauteng North retained their Super Senior title at the same event, registering back-to-back wins and finishing undefeated. They edged out Central Gauteng 3.5-2.5, convincingly beat Boland 5.5-0.5, and outplayed Ekurhuleni and Western Province in subsequent matches.
William Skinner led Gauteng North’s scoring with 9 points, just behind MVP Neale Gandy from Central Gauteng, with Gerhard Strydom close behind with 8.5 points. Both teams showcased dominance, making their mark in this prestigious event.
