Mpumalanga side U-turns on Motsepe League withdrawal decision

Mpumalanga side Tiger Boys have made a U-turn on their decision to withdraw from the provincial ABC Motsepe League and have issued an apology to SAFA.

The amateur club claims that their e-mail was hacked and the letter that was sent to SAFA was not from the club, but the people who hacked the club’s e-mail.

In the e-mail sent to SAFA Mpumalanga, it stated that Tiger Boys have succumbed to a decision to withdraw from the league with immediate effect, citing poor officiating as the main factor.

As things stand, Tigers Boys are currently in position 11 on the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League log standings. They have collected 21 points after 17 matches. In those 17 outings, the side managed to win six, draw three, and lose eight.

The club is determined to soldier on to try to fight for the national playoff qualification. This will boost their confidence to gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Tigers Boys have since come forward to apologise to SAFA for bringing the league and sponsors into disrepute.

TIGER BOYS’ OFFICIAL APOLOGY TO SAFA MPUMALANGA

“Tiger Boys FC management and owners acknowledge and take full responsibility for the misinformation of the unfortunate letter that was circulating on all social media in the past week,” reads the club statement.

“We sincerely apologise unreservedly to SAFA for bringing the league’s reputation into question. We further like to confirm that our team is fully committed to participating in the league for the remainder of the season and in future.

“Furthermore, we extend our formal and unreserved apologies to all structures and teams in the league. This also goes to our players, supporters and stakeholders including our sponsors.

“We humbly ask for the understanding and forgiveness of all affected parties, including all members of the public.”

The club’s next league fixture will take place this afternoon against Sibange Young Bucks at Themba Senamela Stadium. The showdown is set to start at 15:00.
