A man (39) allegedly shot and wounded a woman (39) before turning the gun on himself in Selega on Monday.
According to a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdlhuli, the man shot the woman during a heated argument.
“Upon receiving reports of the shooting, police and paramedics immediately responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the man with a gunshot wound, and a woman with a gunshot wound to her right hand.”
“An unlicensed firearm without ammunition was found next to the man’s body. It has been confiscated for further investigation. The woman was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment, while the man was declared dead on the scene,” he said.

Mdhluli said a case of attempted murder and an inquest are currently being investigated by the police.

“The circumstances surrounding this incident and the motive which led to the tragedy remain a mystery and will form part of the ongoing investigation by the police,” said Mdhluli.
