The much-anticipated annual Metro FM Awards were launched at Graskop’s Angel’s View Hotel on Thursday, January 30.

The official awards ceremony will be held at the Mbombela Stadium on May 3. This will be the third consecutive time the province has hosted this prestigious event.

During the keynote address, the MEC for sports, arts, culture and recreation, Leah Mabuza, called on the people of Mpumalanga to support its local artists.

“We share a common script and a commitment to recognise and celebrate excellence in the creative arts industry, but to also reward artists who deliver excellence. Hosting the Metro FM Awards is one of the plethora of mechanisms to sustain and grow the already vibrant tourism industry in Mpumalanga.”
