Authorities in Rustenburg have confiscated dagga worth R5 million. Two men, aged 37 and 41, were apprehended after police responded to a tip-off about a vehicle transporting drugs. North West police spokesperson, Colonel Adéle Myburgh, stated that the Rustenburg Flying Squad tracked a white truck from the British Toll Plaza and intercepted it at Bapong Weighbridge near Mooinooi. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered 64 bags of dagga. The suspects were arrested on the spot and are set to appear in the British Magistrate’s Court on drug trafficking charges. One suspect also faces charges related to being in South Africa illegally. Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, praised the swift police action, emphasizing it as a stern warning to drug traffickers. This operation underscores ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime in the region.
