Melony Degenaar was appointed to the executive council of the Mpumalanga Sports Confederation (MSC) on February 1.
During the MSC quadrennial elections, Melony was appointed to serve on the Gert Sibande Karate Council.
She was also appointed as executive of the Mpumalanga Karate Association and she will serve on the Karate South Africa executive council.
Jannie Degenaar, owner of Three Swords Dojo and president of Mpumalanga Karate, praised his wife for her excellent achievements. He believes that her passion for karate and years of experience will be beneficial for this role.
Melony is an experienced Protea karate team manager, making her a capable member of the MSC executive council.
“Her appointment is a testament to her commitment to promoting all sporting codes on all levels,” said Jannie.
Melony has a broad background in sports management and is actively involved in several sports programmes.
She hopes that her own vision for enhancing community engagement and developing talents will resonate through the initiatives of the MSC.
“As a member of the executive council, Melony will play a crucial role in shaping policies and strategies that aim to elevate the standards of all sporting codes across Mpumalanga,” added Jannie.
Due to her experience and insights, she will be able to accurately address the needs of athletes, organisations and coaches.
According to Jannie, her appointment highlights the Sports Council’s commitment to inclusivity and innovation in the sporting landscape.
