SAPU continues to call for police killings to be labeled as acts of treason

JOHANNESBURG – The South African Policing Union (SAPU) has reiterated its call for the government to label police killings as treasonous acts.

This comes after the recent killing of two officers who responded to a house robbery in Namahadi, Free State last weekend.

The suspects are reportedly on the run after killing members of the South African Police Service (SAPS).

SAPU spokesperson Mannotene Molapo said attacks on police were attacks on the state.

“We are indeed concerned about the increasing number of police killings. These brutal acts are a direct attack on the state, and the state must address this issue. We appeal to the management of the SAPS in the province to step up the search for these criminals.

“They should not rest until they are held accountable and should further encourage the community to work hand in hand with the police as these criminals live among us.”
