Free State police hunt armed gang after shooting in inn | News24

Free State police are on the hunt for a group of armed men responsible for a shooting and robbery spree at three taverns in Ward 22, Harrismith. The incidents occurred between 9.40pm on Sunday, May 26, and 1.50am on Monday, May 27, leaving two people dead and three hospitalized with serious injuries. The suspects, whose faces were hidden by balaclavas, stole mobile phones, money, and a VW Polo from a 48-year-old man. They ordered customers to lie on the ground before robbing them and later abandoned the stolen vehicle about 3km from the crime scene. At the third tavern, the gang took cash from the till and more belongings from patrons. The provincial commissioner has deployed additional resources to capture the suspects. Police are asking the public to provide any information via the Crime Stop number or the MySAPS app.
