Gauteng ready for battle in DSNC provincials | SuperSport

The Gauteng leg of the DSTV Schools Netball Challenge (DSNC) promises intense competition as 25 schools gather at Hoƫrskool Florida on Saturday, aiming for a chance to represent the province at the national finals on July 12 and 13. According to SA Schools Netball secretary Ronelle Nell, the tournament is expected to feature high-caliber matches.

The DSNC, a collaboration between Multichoice, South African Schools Netball, and the Department of Basic Education, provides a unified platform for schools from both urban and rural areas to compete. The competition progresses from district to national levels and is divided into Botho and Ubuntu streams, ensuring both privileged and disadvantaged schools can vie for top honors. Gauteng has six available spots, with teams competing in pool stages before splitting into their respective divisions.

Nell is excited about the matches and acknowledges the strong competitive spirit in Gauteng’s schools. The 2023 Botho division winners, African HoĆ«r Meisieskool Pretoria, are among those competing for a place in the nationals. Nell hopes to see new champions emerge and admires the progress of teams in the Ubuntu stream.

Additionally, Laerskool Kragbron in Emalahleni will host the Mpumalanga edition, and 21 schools in KwaZulu Natal will compete in Kingsway for their provincial finals.
