Free State Crinums win fourth TNL title

The Free State Crinums clinched their fourth Telkom Netball League title with a nail-biting victory over the Gauteng Jaguars on Wednesday evening in Johannesburg. The match, held at Ellis Park Arena, was tightly contested, ending with a dramatic 47-46 win for the Crinums, breaking their eight-year championship drought. The game saw fluctuating leads, with the Crinums holding a 24-20 advantage at halftime and a narrow 34-33 lead by the end of the third quarter.

The Jaguars surged ahead in the final quarter, but a critical turnover near the end allowed the Crinums to secure the win. Crinums coach Martha Mosoahle-Samm praised her team’s perseverance, highlighting their readiness to fight until the final minute. Key performances included Karla Pretorius, named player of the tournament, and Refiloe Nketsa, who was named midfield player of the tournament. Coach Mosoahle-Samm also lauded the Jaguars for their formidable performance.
