The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has called on holidaymakers to take note of weather warnings when planning their Christmas trips and activities.
Widespread showers and thundershowers are expected across western Limpopo and northern Gauteng.
The weather service further predicts disruptive rain and localised flooding throughout the Christmas period.
The SAWS has predicted some drizzling rains in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga escarpment regions.
A notably reduced distribution of showers and thundershowers is anticipated on Christmas afternoon with sunny and dry weather, as well as hot to very hot conditions across most of the Cape Provinces, where fire ignition could lead to the costly spread of veld fires and extensive damage.
North West could experience scattered showers and thundershowers by late afternoon on Christmas day.
