Thirteen people have been killed in two separate crashes in the Free State in the past 24 hours.

In the first, ten people were killed on the N1 south of Koppies towards Kroonstad when a minibus collided with a truck early this morning.

One person from the minibus and the truck driver survived. The affected section of road is currently closed as emergency workers remove bodies from the wreckage.

The second accident involved three people, including a nine-year-old child, in a collision between two bakkies on the R30 between Allanridge and Odendaalsrus last night.
