In just one term of five years, DA will restore the Northern Cape, says Steenhuisen

John Steenhuisen, leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), pledged comprehensive improvements for the Northern Cape. He vowed to resolve the persistent water shortages exacerbated by alleged ANC corruption, ensuring safe drinking water for municipalities like Sol Plaatje. He also promised to address the infamous sewage lakes in Kimberley and modernize the city’s infrastructure swiftly, countering the ANC’s slow progress.

On safety, Steenhuisen committed to reducing crime by ousting corrupt officials and building a professional police force. He mentioned delegating police powers to local communities and forming national security units to protect agricultural workers.

The DA plans to overhaul healthcare and education in the region. The Northern Cape’s low graduation rates and healthcare mismanagement, with over 8,600 pending surgeries, will be priorities. Hospitals like Robert Mangaliso and Harry Surtie are set for upgrades without additional taxation.

Steenhuisen expressed confidence in the DA’s electoral prospects, emphasizing unity within the multi-party charter to potentially dethrone the ANC.
