THE NORTHERN Cape is set for a week of changing skies as we transition from spring to summer. With a mix of sunny days, cooling breezes, and the possibility of a light shower or two, here’s what residents across the Province can expect:

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This week, the Northern Cape will experience generally warm to hot conditions, with temperatures ranging from the mid-20s to the mid-30s across the Province. Early in the week, most areas will enjoy clear skies and sunshine, making for great weather to get outdoors.

By midweek, a few regions could see some clouds forming, with a slim chance of isolated showers, especially in the southern and central parts of the province. Winds will pick up toward the end of the week, providing some relief from the rising temperatures, particularly in the afternoons.

The weekend weather looks sunny and hot, perfect for outdoor activities – but don’t forget to stay hydrated as the temperatures climb.

KIMBERLEY

The week kicks off on a bright and sunny note! Monday brings perfect spring weather with clear skies and a comfortable 28 degrees Celsius. Tuesday keeps the good vibes going with similar conditions, but by Wednesday, things start to change. Clouds will roll in, and there’s a slight chance of light afternoon showers – expect around 4mm of rain as temperatures dip slightly to 25°C.

Thursday’s cooler with a refreshing 20km/h breeze sweeping through the city, keeping temperatures around a pleasant 24°C. By Friday, we’re back in warm territory, with highs soaring to 30°C under sunny skies.

The weekend will bring some drama with a bit more cloud cover on Saturday, though significant rain isn’t on the horizon. The north-west winds will be picking up speed at 25km/h, adding a breezy touch to your Saturday plans. Finally, Sunday rounds off the weekend with glorious sunshine and a toasty high of 32°C – just right for any outdoor adventures!

UPINGTON

It’s going to be a hot one in Upington this week! Monday and Tuesday kick off with scorching highs of 34°C, and barely a cloud in the sky. If you’re a fan of dry, sunny weather, you’ll love these days. By Wednesday, temperatures ease off slightly to 30°C as a few clouds drift in, but don’t expect any rain just yet.

Thursday offers a slight break from the heat, with temperatures dropping to a more manageable 29°C, and a strong 30km/h breeze sweeping through to cool things down. But hold onto your hats and put on extra sunscreen, because by Friday, the thermometer climbs back up to 35°C, with those iconic clear skies making a comeback.

As we head into the weekend, it’s all about the heat. Saturday and Sunday are set to sizzle with highs of 36°C and dry, gusty winds blowing from the west at speeds of up to 35km/h. While rain might be scarce, those winds will bring some relief in the afternoons, making the heat a little easier to handle.

Whether you’re in Kimberley with a chance of midweek rain or in Upington soaking up the sun, it’s a week full of variety for the Northern Cape. Warm days, breezy afternoons, and a splash of rain here and there – just enough to keep things interesting!
