A four-year-old boy from Sedgefield has died after he was mauled bu a dog.
The victim, Simikuso Ntswayibana, was attacked in the informal settlement of Sedgefield while he was playing with friends on Tuesday afternoon.
A family spokesperson, Johnson Dyan, told Algoa FM news that the children were playing outside when a pack of dogs in the area began chasing them.
Dyan says one dog managed to reach Simikuso, and bit him severely, after which the little boy ran into a bushy area near Groenvallei in an attempt to escape from the dog.
He says they contacted the police and found his lifeless body.
Knysna police have opened an inquest docket.Â
It is not yet known if the dogs belong to anybody, but it is suspected that they are part of a wild pack running around.
