LIMPOPO – Takalani Tshinesa Raduvha, an award-winning author, cultural practitioner and filmmaker from Madombidzha, added two more accolades to her impressive portfolio at the 48 Hour Film Project held in Durban.
Raduvha took home awards for best viewer’s choice and best use of prop, showcasing her remarkable talent and creativity.
The 48 Hour Film Project, a global event spanning more than 100 cities, challenges filmmakers – from novices to seasoned professionals – to produce a short film in just one weekend. Originally launched in Washington, DC, in 2001, the competition has grown into a celebrated platform for cinematic creativity.
Raduvha is no newcomer to the entertainment industry, with roots in the stage-drama sector dating back to 2012. Her journey continued when she joined the popular SABC 2 soap opera Muvhango in 2017, portraying the character Awelani Nedzamba.
She has also played the role of Maalazwanda, a prosecutor, in a Phalaphala FM radio drama and is a facilitator at Limpopo’s Baiskop Ya Rona Film Festival.
Expressing her confidence about winning, Raduvha remarked, “I just knew I was going to come back home with an award.”
She extended heartfelt thanks to her friends and family, whose unwavering support has fuelled her artistic journey.
In addition to her work in film and television, Raduvha is passionate about nurturing young talent in her community. She spends her spare time mentoring school-aged children with a passion for the arts.
“I have a burning desire to nurture the talent of young people, especially those from my communities,” she said.
Her message for emerging artists is one of resilience and belief. “Do not despair or give up on your dreams. Keep being creative in what you’re good at. One day, it will make sense,” she encouraged, adding, “No one believed in me when I started, but today I am almost there, and people are beginning to take notice.”
