Another child dies of suspected food poisoning

JOHANNESBURG – Another child has died of suspected food poisoning in Alexandra.

The 10-year-old fell ill after eating snacks bought from a local spaza shop.

The child’s mother and younger brother are in a critical condition in hospital.

Last month, six children died in Soweto after eating chips found to have contained a substance used as rat poison.

The father explains what transpired.

Joshua Maaboi said, ”The kids were playing, then my wife started complaining about her stomach, my daughter also said her chest is painful, as they came inside the house, she almost fell and I grabbed her, we didn’t waste any time.” 

“We put her in the car and rushed her to the clinic, she said something is choking her, her voice started to lower down, and she was struggling to breathe.”
