Spaza shop food safety under scrutiny again

JOHANNESBURG – A 10-year-old child has died in Alexandra after consuming food bought at a local spaza shop. 

The child’s mother and four-year-old sibling are now fighting for their lives in hospital, both in critical condition. 

The incident comes as reports of suspected food poisoning continue to rise, raising questions about the safety of food sold at spaza shops.
