The South African Weather Service (Saws) has released its latest weather forecast for Friday, October 25, 2024.

The weather service has warned of extreme fire danger in the Northern Cape, Free State and North West. Elsewhere, expect warm and partly cloudy conditions in other provinces, with possible rain in Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal. Here’s what you need to know.

Fire hazard warnings

The back on duty has warned of extremely high fire danger conditions expected over the Northern Cape and western regions of both the Free State and North West.

Provincial weather forecast

This is what you can expect in your province on Friday, October 25:

Gauteng:

Gauteng residents can expect partly cloudy and warm conditions.

The projected UVB sunscreen index in the region is “very high.”

Residents should take necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.

Mpumalanga:

Mpumalanga residents can expect warm weather in the lowveld; otherwise it will be partly cloudy and warm with early morning fog patches on the highveld and along the escarpment. Later in the afternoon it will become cloudy in the east with a chance of light rain and drizzle in places along the slope and lowveld.

Limpopo:

The day will be partly cloudy and warm to hot, with localized early morning fog in the east. It will be very hot in some places in the Limpopo Valley.

Northwestern Province:

Nice and warm conditions await the residents of Northwest.

Free State:

Residents of the Free State will see nice and hot but warm weather along the border with Lesotho.

Northern Cape:

In the morning the day will be cloudy in the west with fog over southwestern parts, becoming fine to partly cloudy and cool to warm. It will be fine and warm inside.

Western Cape:

Residents of the Western Cape can expect fine to partly cloudy and cool to warm weather, but cloudy along the south coast in the morning.

Eastern Cape (western half):

It will be cloudy at first in places along the coast; otherwise it will be partly cloudy in places in the north, but warm in some places.

Eastern Cape (eastern half):

Patches of fog will develop in places south of the slope; otherwise it will be cloudy and cool from the afternoon with some showers and rain in some places in the east.

KwaZulu-Natal:

KwaZulu-Natal residents can look forward to morning fog patches over the northern interior; otherwise partly cloudy and warm becoming cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thunderstorms.
