Reality show star DJ AJ will celebrate his 30th birthday at various Gauteng venues this weekend.
DJ AJ, real name Arthur Junior Mafokate, will start his birthday tour on Thursday at Cosmopolitan, Maboneng.
“I’ll be alongside popular acts such as Oscar Mbo, Babalwa M, Vetkoek & Mahoota and Owami Mafokate. I’m excited with my progress in the entertainment industry, and I see I’m following in my father’s musical footsteps and there’s a lot I’m learning from him, and I have a lot to offer as well.”
DJ AJ will be at Rockets, Menlyn, Tshwane, on Friday, on Saturday at LIV in Sandton, and on Sunday at Radisson Red in Rosebank.
“Over and above this I’m celebrating the success of the Born Into Fame reality show S1 as well as our La Familia EP with my sister Owami. Furthermore, I’ll be exclusively performing my up and coming single Tsuku with Peekay Mzee dropping in November. As well as my up and coming EP Elements which features Natasha MD and Pantsula”, DJ AJ added.
Cosmopolitan manager Tenny Tshabalala said: “We are happy to be a part of DJ AJ’s birthday celebration, and our club is diverse, we attract a lot of tourists and being approached by a son of a kwaito legend means a lot to us, it means we are on a right path”.
In July, Born Into Fame stars Arthur Junior Mafokate and sister Owami are making attempts to lure their father Arthur Mafokate back into the recording studio.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, DJ AJ said while he and his sister were working on their first project together, the La Familia EP, they were hoping to collaborate with the kwaito legend.
“We are trying to work with our father Arthur as La Familia is a family project and since my sister and I have found our sound, we think we are ready to bring him into our sound. He has been away from the industry as an artist for a while but we’re hoping this new EP will motivate him to join us on the next project,” AJ told TshisaLIVE.
