CAPE TOWN – Metrorail in the Western Cape says it’s on track to reopen all 124 stations in Cape Town by Christmas.
Only seven stations remain closed for construction, including ones in Khayelitsha and Mitchell’s Plain.
To commemorate Transport Month and recognise this accomplishment, Western Cape Premier Alan Winde and Prasa’s executives boarded a train from Bellville to Cape Town.
Despite customers’ high praise, Winde believes local municipalities should be allowed to run the entire transport system.
