Young dad arrested for horrific murder of his toddler son

The shocking murder took place on Sunday morning in the Shongoane village outside Lephalale.

“The police responded to the scene at approximately 6 am, after they were alerted by the community”, says Limpopo police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba

“Upon arrival, they found the child’s mutilated body on a bed, and the 22-year-old suspect, who was in possession of some of the victim’s body parts, was arrested and charged with murder.”

Ledwaba adds that ritual killing cannot be ruled out.

“This senseless killing has left many in shock, and the motive behind it is still unknown.

“Major General Manala emphasized that the suspect deserves the harshest sentence possible and urged the investigating team to ensure that justice is served.”

The suspect is set to appear in the Phalala Magistrates’ Court soon.

Police investigations are ongoing.
