Ramaphosa to deliver keynote address at the 24th National Teaching Awards

JOHANNESBURG – President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to deliver the keynote address at the 24th National Teaching Awards on Saturday morning at the Birchwood Hotel in Kempton Park.

The event, organised by the Department of Basic Education, is held to recognise the dedication and excellence of South African educators who go above and beyond, often in challenging conditions.

This year’s theme, “Empowering Educators to educate a South African learner fit for the 21st Century” looks at the critical role of teachers in shaping the future.

Educators across South Africa will be honored for their exceptional contributions to the country’s education system.

The National Teaching Awards shines a light on the often-unsung heroes who ensure that learners are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed for the modern world.

Categories for recognition include excellence in primary and secondary teaching, leadership, special needs education, and achievements in mathematics and physical sciences, among others.

When President Ramaphosa takes to the stage, all eyes will be on the nation’s top teachers, recognised not only for their teaching skills but for their resilience in the face of tough challenges.
