The 2024 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz celebrated a milestone of 25 years as Africa’s premier jazz festival on September 27 and 28 at the Sandton Convention Centre with more than 50 world-class jazz musicians.

Artists who performed over the two days included Mimi Mtshali, Chucho Valdes Royal Quartet, Sibongile Mngoma, Mpumi Dhlamini, Mi Casa, Vusi Nova, and Joe Nina with the South African Air Force Band.
The jazz artists performed across five stages – Dinaledi, Diphala, Conga, Lounge, and Mbira.

South African jazz vocalist Mtshali said she was honoured to be a performing artist at the festival.
“Performing at the Joy of Jazz Festival means my art and craft is acknowledged and appreciated,” she said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to share my music with a wider audience.”
The festival showcased jazz music accents from Africa, Europe, East Asia, and the Americas and weaved a global vision of jazz as a world-unifying musical idiom.
