WATCH: JB Marks Municipality owes R5000, and counterfeit scams uncovered | Potchefstroom Herald

The North West province is currently grappling with a series of challenges as wildfires rage across the region. From  13 to 15 September firefighters battled multiple blazes, responding to a severe red warning issued by the North West Umbrella Fire Association.

In Potchefstroom, local residents are reeling from a string of counterfeit money scams that have surfaced, particularly linked to transactions on Facebook Marketplace.

Amid these concerns, Lizelle de Bryun has come forward, claiming that the JB Marks Municipality owes her R5000 following the sale of her home in Vanderhoff Park. Despite her attempts to resolve the matter, she has yet to receive any refund.

On a more positive note, a rabies vaccination drive organized by North West University, the SANDF, and the Department of Agriculture provided free vaccinations for pets, showcasing the community’s commitment to animal welfare.

As healthcare evolves, Netcare Medicross is set to withdraw from Potchefstroom after three decades, with local practitioners ready to take over operations.

In entertainment, excitement is building for the upcoming Aardklop Festival, just three days away, promising a vibrant celebration of music and culture in Potchefstroom.

As the community navigates these challenges, resilience and spirit continue to shine through in the North West province.
