JOHANNESBURG – The Labour Department says working conditions at restaurants are even worse than they expected.
Inspectors have been carrying out raids at various eateries around the country.
Inspector-General Aggie Moiloa says even the the most basic compliance aspects are not being adhered to.

“In terms of health and safety we find that it is not there and the law states that for any workplace that employs a minimum of 20 people or more there must be an official occupational health and safety committee in place,” she said.
“We found that in those work places, there is not even a proper PPE.”
