One ward at Booth Memorial Hospital in Oranjezicht has been closed after strong winds caused a section of the roof to blow off on Thursday 19 September.

He added that all patients were “safe and comfortable”.

“All is under control at Booth Memorial Hospital although a section of the roof was damaged by the wind. Our excellent staff are ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and visitors.”

He said the facility remains operational.

“One fire engine attended to the scene. Five roof sheets were blown off. Twenty male patients were moved to another floor. The scene was handed over to the Booth Memorial staff and their roofing contractor.”
