The shocking discovery of a frozen newborn baby boy in a freezer in Kutloanong, Odendaalsrus, has shocked the local community.

The owner of a house in this municipality claims he found a newborn baby in the freezer of a hut in his garden.

Police launched a search and the mother, who was not at home at the time of the discovery, surrendered to Odendaalsrus police on September 12. The discovery was made on September 11.

The 27-year-old mother was arrested and will appear before the Odendaalsrus District Court on charges of concealing her birth.

The gruesome discovery was made after Odendaalsrus police received a complaint. They found the baby in a freezer, wrapped in a tracksuit. The body was placed in a plastic carrier bag and was already frozen.
