Case against Joshlin Smith’s mother and others postponed

CAPE TOWN – The Joshlin Smith case has been postponed to 21 October 2024.

The state says it has come into new evidence and wants to present it.

The six-year-old’s mother, Racquel, appeared briefly in the Vredenberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Alongside her were her boyfriend, Jacquen Appolis, and friends Stevano van Rhyn and Lourentia Lombaard. 

The accused, including Joshlin’s mother Kelly Smith, face charges of kidnapping, as well as trafficking for the purpose of exploitation.

The little girl disappeared from her Saldanha Bay home in February.
