Education in crisis | Budget cuts affecting allocation of teacher posts

JOHANNESBURG – The DA has expressed concerns about the budget cuts affecting education departments across South Africa.

The cuts have led to decisions on educator post allocations, and highlight a broader issue of underfunding by Treasury.  

With a projected R3.8-billion shortfall over the next three years, the Western Cape faces challenges, including potential non-renewal of contract teachers and forced relocations of permanent staff.  

Western Cape Education MEC, David Maynier discussed this with eNCA.
