KOMANI – Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality has announced the start of Phase 2 of its Electrical Smart Meter Installation Project, with installations scheduled to begin in Madeira Park, Ward 10, on Friday, 6 November 2026.
According to a public notice issued by the municipality, its technical team, together with an appointed contractor, will be in the area from 09:30 to commence the installations.
Residents of Madeira Park have been requested to cooperate with the installation teams by allowing access to their properties and ensuring that an adult is present during the installation process.
The municipality has also asked residents to ensure that their electricity meter boxes are easily accessible to avoid delays.
According to the municipality, the smart meter project is intended to improve billing accuracy, reduce electricity losses and contribute towards more reliable service delivery.
The municipality has appealed to residents for their cooperation as the second phase of the project gets underway.
No completion date for the installations in Madeira Park was provided in the notice.
