South Africans will see changes to fuel prices from Wednesday, 4 November 2026, with diesel prices set to decrease significantly while paraffin users face a sharp increase.
According to the final fuel price adjustments issued by the Department of Energy, diesel 50ppm will decrease by R1.19 per litre, providing relief to motorists, transport operators and businesses that rely on diesel-powered vehicles and machinery.
Petrol users will see only a marginal reduction, with the price of 95 unleaded petrol (ULP) decreasing by just one cent per litre.
However, households that rely on paraffin will face higher costs, with the price increasing by R2.75 per litre.
The announced changes are as follows:
- Diesel 50ppm: Decrease of R1.19 per litre.
- Paraffin: Increase of R2.75 per litre.
- Petrol 95 ULP: Decrease of R0.01 per litre.
The diesel price reduction will be welcomed by sectors such as transport, agriculture and logistics, where fuel represents a significant operating expense.
For motorists using petrol, the one-cent reduction will make almost no noticeable difference at the pumps. Meanwhile, the substantial increase in paraffin prices will place additional pressure on households that depend on the fuel for cooking, heating and other domestic needs.
The new fuel price adjustments will take effect across South Africa on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
