The Safer Festive Season campaign launch comes as crime remains a major concern in Cape Town, with gun violence continuing unabated across the metro.
Masemola said police will focus on gun violence, gang-related crime, armed robberies, gender-based violence, and road safety.
He said officers will also conduct roadblocks along major routes, carry out stop-and-search operations, and increase their visibility in crime-hit communities and at beaches.
“We won’t be on holiday, but we will be on the road, making sure that people are safe,” Masemola said. “We will, of course, prioritise getting rid of firearms within communities, including the Cape Flats.”
Masemola said increased visibility and targeted operations would be central to efforts to keep communities safe throughout the festive season.
