The mourners were returning from a memorial service for the African National Congress (ANC)’s branch chairperson, Jeanette Magugu, who was killed outside her home last week.
As they left the primary school venue, singing a tribute song, the suspect allegedly began firing.
Two of the four men who died were ANC Youth League members. Moreover, two children were also injured by stray bullets.Â
Senior ANC officials, including Deputy President Paul Mashatile, have called for swift justice when they visited the families on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Gauteng Political Killings Task Team is investigating whether the shooting is linked to the upcoming election.
