Soweto violence: Gauteng police pursuing leads following torching of vehicles

At least ten cars were torched and one spaza shop looted during the violence.

Residents claim that their march was peaceful until a group of foreign national shop-owners retaliated.

Acting police commissioner Puleng Dimpane confirmed that 13 criminal cases were lodged.

“We will be investigating those cases. In terms of those who were responsible for this mayhem of yesterday, we have leads and will pursue them, and very soon we will bring them to justice.”
