JSC recommends three senior advocates for Western Cape High Court bench

Two of the three candidates recommended to President Cyril Ramaphosa for the Western Cape High Court bench are senior counsel, a title given to high-ranking advocates.

The JSC has announced advocate Michael Janisch SC, whose expertise lies in tax law.

Advocate Ashley Kantor, senior counsel with extensive experience in litigation, is also among the three, as well as Advocate Zuko Mapoma, whose career spans over 30 years, with highlights including the evidence leader stint in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s amnesty committee.

All three men are no strangers to the Western Cape High Court, where they have acted on the bench before.

Their names will be recommended to the president, who will make the ultimate call on their appointment.
