Gauteng Health denies claims of R16m worth of idle ambulances

They claimed this was due to the handover of fleet management to the provincial government.

In a statement on Tuesday, department spokesperson Steve Mabona denied the claims, stating that fleet management involved rotating vehicles between maintenance.

“The number of ambulances seen parked at an EMS base at any given time does not, on its own, indicate that these vehicles are idle or not being utilised,” Mabona said.
