Women in Blue from the ZF Mgcawu District in Upington, Northern Cape, conducted a joint Operation Basadi roadblock in collaboration with Provincial Traffic and the Office of the MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison on Wednesday, 19 August 2026.


The operation was led by the District Commissioner, Major General Monica Sebili, together with the Director of Provincial Traffic, Ms Nonkoliseko Joka.


The joint operation focused on ensuring compliance with traffic legislation, enhancing road safety, and preventing and detecting transnational crimes. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen law-enforcement visibility and address criminal activities along major routes within the ZF Mgcawu District.


The Women in Blue demonstrated their commitment to maintaining law and order and creating safer communities through visible policing, effective enforcement and strengthened collaboration with key stakeholders.


As part of the operation, further operational activities were conducted in the Upington Central Business District to ensure compliance with the law, enhance police visibility and address criminal activities in identified high-crime areas.


The ZF Mgcawu District remains committed to strengthening partnerships with law-enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure safer roads, secure communities and an effective response to crime.
