‘Wealthy’ Gauteng schools lose more than R340m as subsidies are cut to the bone

A total of 574 so-called wealthy schools in Gauteng have taken a hefty knock after the provincial education department slashed their combined subsidy by R343.9 million, reducing it from R545.3 million in 2025 to R201.4 million in 2026.
