South Africans can expect a mostly fine and warmer Thursday across much of the country, while parts of the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and Western Cape face rain and isolated thunderstorms, according to the South African Weather Service.
No impact-based warnings, fire danger warnings or advisories have been issued for Thursday.
The rainfall chart indicates a 30% chance of rain in affected areas, including parts of the southern Northern Cape, the Eastern Cape and along sections of the southern Cape coast.
Gauteng residents can expect a fine and cool day, becoming warm in the extreme north of the province.
The UVB sunburn index will be high, meaning people spending extended periods outdoors should take precautions against sun exposure.
Mpumalanga will see morning fog in places in the east before conditions clear, with fine and cool to warm weather expected for the rest of the day.
Morning fog patches are also forecast for south-eastern Limpopo, followed by fine and cool to warm conditions.
The North West will remain fine, with temperatures ranging from cool to warm.
The Northern Cape will be fine and warm to hot across much of the province, although partly cloudy conditions are forecast in the south-east. There is a 30% chance of isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the south-eastern parts of the province.
Along the Northern Cape coast, moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly winds are expected.
The Free State will start with patches of morning fog in places in the east. Conditions will otherwise be fine and cool to warm, although the south will become partly cloudy.
The Western Cape will experience morning fog along the south coast, with partly cloudy and warm conditions elsewhere.
Cloudy and cooler weather, accompanied by light rain, is forecast along the south coast, where the rainfall chart indicates a 30% chance of rain in affected areas.
Coastal winds will generally be moderate south-easterly before strengthening to fresh or strong during the afternoon. Along the south coast, winds will be moderate south-westerly.
The province’s UVB sunburn index is expected to be very high.
The western half of the Eastern Cape will be cool with light rain and morning fog in places along the coast. Inland areas will be partly cloudy and warm to hot before cloud cover increases during the afternoon.There is a 30% chance of isolated showers and thundershowers in affected areas.
Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds are expected along the coast, reaching strong in places.In the eastern half of the province, conditions will initially be fine before becoming partly cloudy and warm, while areas north of the escarpment will remain cool.
Clouds are expected to build in the west during the afternoon, bringing a 30% chance of isolated showers and thundershowers.
KwaZulu-Natal will see morning fog patches over the northern interior before conditions become fine and cool to warm.Moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly winds are forecast along the coast, while the UVB sunburn index will be very high.
Overall, Thursday will bring predominantly dry and settled weather to the northern and central parts of South Africa, while the southern parts of the country face pockets of rain and thunderstorms.
