The Eastern Cape government is calling for calm in Ngcobo after a deadly shooting left one person dead and three others wounded.
Unknown suspects opened fire on a group of people on Monday afternoon, with the three victims receiving medical treatment in hospital.
The provincial government is urging residents not to take the law into their own hands as police work to establish what led to the attack and find those responsible.
The shooting has renewed concerns about violence in communities, with the Eastern Cape government appealing for restraint as investigations continue.

It is also appealing to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to share it with police through the appropriate channels.
Eastern Cape government Spokesperson Khuselwa Rantjie said that community members must allow law enforcement to do its work.
“We urge community members to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to allow law enforcement agencies to conduct their investigations without interference.”
The three people who were injured in the shooting remain in hospital as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
