3 killed in multi-vehicle N4 crash near Ngodwana

Two Irish* tourists travelling in a Toyota Fortuner died today, September 16, in a multi-vehicle collision involving two LDVs and an articulated truck. The tourists and the the driver of one of the LDVs were declared dead at the scene of the accident.

Truck allegedly skips intersection

According to Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison spokesperson Zandile Mavuso, a truck travelling on the D799 Kaapsehoop Road allegedly skipped the intersection and collided with three vehicles on the N4 Toll Road.

Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med reported from the scene that two patients sustained moderate to severe injuries and were transported to Kiaat Private Hospital for further medical treatment.

Road partially closed

“The exact circumstances surrounding the collision, as well as what caused the accident, remain unclear at this stage and will be subject to further investigation,” Mavuso said.

Emergency services are currently on the scene and the road is partially closed, with motorists urged to approach with caution as traffic is moving slowly.
